Delete in the app (fastest)

We are sorry to see you go, and we are grateful you gave Tribes a try. You can permanently delete your Tribes account and associated data directly in the app:

• Open Tribes and go to the Me tab
• Tap Settings
• Under Account, tap Delete account and confirm

Your account is closed and removed from the app right away. Your profile is anonymized, your listings and showcase items are removed, your identity verification record is deleted, and your sign in methods (including Sign in with Apple and Google) are revoked.

Request deletion by email

If you can’t access the app, email info@trytribes.com from the email address on your account with the subject “Account deletion request.” To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm it’s you. We aim to complete requests within 30 days, and always within the 45 days Texas law allows.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Deleting your account removes your profile information, listings, showcase items, My Tribe memberships, identity verification record (result, date, legal name, and any address), and sign in credentials.

• Backups: a limited copy of your account data stays in secure backups and safety records for up to 90 days for fraud prevention, safety investigations, and legal compliance. It is then permanently deleted.
• Chats: chat threads you took part in are anonymized, not removed from the other member’s history.
• Safety and legal records: we may keep limited records, such as moderation reports, as long as needed for safety, fraud prevention, legal claims, or the law. We deidentify them wherever possible.
• Support emails: messages you sent to our support team are kept for up to two years.
• Verification images: Tribes never holds your ID images or selfie. Our provider, Didit, deletes them within 30 days after the verification decision, whether or not you delete your account.
• Aggregated data: data that has already been aggregated or deidentified, and no longer identifies you, is not affected.

You can also delete individual listings, showcase items, and messages at any time in the app without deleting your account.

Your rights and appeals

Texas residents have the right to delete their personal data under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and we give this right to every member. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision email with the word “Appeal.” We will respond within 60 days. If we deny your appeal, you can contact the Texas Attorney General at www.texasattorneygeneral.gov. See our Privacy Policy at trytribes.com/privacy for more.
